Ketua Dewan Kehormatan PAN Amien Rais mengkritik keras jika yang terjadi antara Presiden terpilih Joko Widodo dengan Ketua Umum Partai Gerindra Prabowo Subianto hanya sekedar bagi-bagi kekuasaan.
Menurut Amien, rekonsiliasi yang hanya sekedar bagi-bagi kekuasaan adalah aib dan negatif karena masyarakat akan menilai bahwa para politisi tidak memiliki kekuatan moral yang dipegang.
"Saya setuju rekonsiliasi agar bangsa Indonesia tidak pecah, namun jangan sampai itu diwujudkan dengan bagi-bagi kursi. Karena apa gunanya dulu bertanding ada dua pasangan calon, lalu ujungnya bagi-bagi kursi," kata Amien di Kantor DPP PAN, Jakarta, Senin (15/7/2019).
Dia mendukung dua tokoh yang sempat menjadi kompetitor di Pilpres 2019 itu berangkulan namun jangan sampai itu mengaburkan makna masing-masing parpol dalam sistem demokrasi. Menurut dia, dalam sebuah negara demokrasi, tidak baik kalau tidak ada oposisi sehingga bisa menjadi negara otoriter.
"Kalau nanti ada sesuatu yang kurang baik lalu tidak ada oposisi maka demokrasi akan menjadi otoriter," ujarnya.
Dia berpesan, Prabowo tetap terus menjadi persatuan dan kesatuan namun jangan sampai pernah terkooptasi hanya karena dapat satu atau dua kursi menteri lalu berpindah haluan politik. Menurut dia, kalau demokrasi tanpa ada oposisi, itu namanya demokrasi bohong-bohongan padahal dalam demokrasi dibutuhkan mekanisme "check and balances".
"Demokrasi itu ada mekanisme check and balances, yaitu eksekutif melangkah dengan berbagai macam langkah lalu yang mengawasi adalah parlemen," katanya.
Dia menilai kalau anggota parlemen sebagian besar menjadi tukang stempel atau jadi juru bicara eksekutif maka yang terjadi adalah lonceng kematian bagi demokrasi. Amien mengatakan merajut merah-putih bisa diteruskan namun soal kekuasaan, berikan kesempatan yang utuh kepada Jokowi-Ma'ruf dengan para menterinya bekerja dan oposisi mengawasi jalannya pemerintahan.
