Israel kembali membombardir Palestina dengan pesawat-pesawat tempurnya. Dalam sebuah pernyataan militer Israel, Jumat (14/6) kemarin, mengatakan, jet tempur yang dikirim Israel menyerang infrastruktur di kompleks militer angkatan laut Hamas sebagai bagian dari serangan terhadap sejumlah situs teror Hamas di seluruh Jalur Gaza.
Serangan itu, dikabarkan merupakan serangan balasan setelah roket Palestina menghantam Kota Sderot, wilayah selatan Israel. Meski begitu, dilaporkan tidak ada korban atas serangan tersebut.
Aksi saling tembak ini, dikabarkan telah berlangsung sejak Kamis (13/6) kemarin di wilayah perbatasan yang sudah panas sejak Mei lalu. "Jika roket itu jatuh beberapa jam sebelumnya, maka akan ada bencana," kata mantan Menteri Pertahanan Amir Peretz, seorang warga Sderot, dalam sebuah wawancara dengan radio publik Israel yang dilansir dari Aljazirah, Sabtu (15/6).
Juru Bicara Hamas, Abdellatif al-Qanoo' mengatakan, tembakan roket yang dikirim Palestina merupakan respons terhadap agresi Israel. "Israel terus menerus menyerang Gaza dengan eskalasi tinggi. Serta kemandekannya dalam mengimplementasikan perjanjian antara kami," katanya.
"Orang-orang kami akan terus menantang mereka (Israel). Kami akan menanggapi perilaku ini (serangan Israel) dengan terus berkumpul dan berbaris," tambah al-Qanoo'.
Salah satu eskalasi terbaru Israel adalah penutupan perairan lepas pantai Israel oleh nelayan Israel pada Rabu (12/6) kemarin. Palarangan ini diklaim sebagai tanggapan atas kiriman balon pembakar dari Palestina yang menyebabkan kebakaran di ladang di Israel.
"Karena peluncuran balon dan layang-layang dari Jalur Gaza ke Israel secara terus-menerus, telah diputuskan untuk tidak mengizinkan akses Gaza ke ruang maritim sampai pemberitahuan lebih lanjut," ujar Koordinasi Kegiatan Pemerintah di Wilayah (COGAT) departemen kementerian pertahanan Israel yang bertanggung jawab atas urusan sipil Palestina.
Di sisi lain, menurut otoritas kesehatan Gaza, dalam dua hari pertempuran sengit pada awal Mei lalu, serangan Israel menewaskan sedikitnya 25 warga Palestina. Mereka yang tewas lebih dari setengahnya merupakan warga sipil. Pada periode yang sama, proyektil dari Gaza menewaskan empat warga sipil di Israel.
