Persoalan tersebut mengemuka saat Ketua Badan Kerja Sama Antar-Parlemen (BKSAP) DPR RI Nurhayati Ali Assegaf menerima tamu kehormatan Duta Besar Iran untuk Indonesia Valiolah Mohammadi di Gedung DPR RI, Senayan, Jakarta, Senin (24/6).
"Kedua negara berkomitmen mewujudkan kemerdekaan Palestina. Bukan karena mereka itu muslim, tapi karena mereka diperlakukan tanpa pemberlakukan hak asasi manusia,” tegasnya.
Kebetulan bebarapa waktu lalu Presiden Joko Widodo sudah berkunjung ke Iran untuk menguatkan kembali komitmen ini dengan Presiden Iran. Karena begitu banyak tragedi kemanusiaan, kata Nurhayati di hadapan Dubes Iran, dunia saat ini butuh leadership by example, yaitu kepemimpinan dengan memberi ketauladanan.
"Di forum-forum internasional saya selalu sampaikan, ketika kita menolong orang tidak perlu kita menanyakan apa agamanya. Kita harus tolong dulu terlepas dari agama, ras, ataupun etnisnya,” tandas politisi Partai Demokrat ini usai pertemuan.
Kepada Nurhayati, Dubes Iran juga menyampaikan keprihatinan atas sanksi ekonomi Amerika Serikat kepada Iran. Namun, Nurhayati meyakinkan bahwa Iran pasti bisa segera mengatasi segalanya.
Kunjungan Dubes Iran ini sekaligus juga ingin berpamitan, karena tugasnya di Indonesia segera berakhir. Namun, hubungan baik Indonesia-Iran tetap berlanjut dengan Dubes penggantinya nanti.
"Dubes Iran ingin mengakhiri masa tugasnya dan berpamitan. Ia mengucapkan terima kasih atas kerja sama yang selama ini dilakukan serta hubungan baiknya antara Parlemen Iran dan Indonesia,” tutur Nurhayati.
